Mike and Bonny Cusack

Alaska All Star Hockey Association

In 1979, Mike and Bonnie Cusack started the first traveling comp organization in Alaska, the Alaska All Star Hockey Association. Throughout the years, they treated it much like  their own business and personally supported many young hockey players in need.  Their goal was simple, to help kids achieve D1 college scholarships and NHL opportunities by traveling and competing outside of Alaska for the first time- a concept that became a way of life for Alaska youth hockey talent. Doc would always say, “How many kids have played D1 hockey from the Allstars?”   “How many in the NHL now?” That meant everything to them.

USA Hockey

Mike and Bonnie were instrumental in bringing USA Hockey up to Alaska. They sponsored USA National teams to play games at the new Sullivan Arena against the Russian National team and then take the entire teams to their fishing lodge in King Salmon, Alaska. Mike Cusack’s King Salmon Lodge.

UAA- University of Anchorage, Alaska Hockey

Proud fans and supporters of the UAA hockey team- housing many Seawolves in their home. Bonnie especially loved to sell the novelties at the games and enjoyed her social life as a booster in the Blueliner’s Club in the Sullivan VIP room after the games.

Doc and Bonnie’s home was a second home to many, many hockey players over the years- between the Alaska Allstars, USA Hockey, UAA Hockey and then later the  Anchorage Aces Hockey.

Bonnie passed away in 1992 from Breast Cancer and “Doc” remained President and heavily involved and passionate about the Alaska All Stars until 2016 when he finally relinquished the reigns.
